" While researching that Ranchero story for the upcoming issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines, I came across mention of the Ranchero Scrambler concept truck from 1968. According to James Mays’s book, “Ford Ranchero: 1957-1979 Photo History,” Ford painted the Scrambler gold and stuck a pair of Rupp Scrambler dirt bikes in the bed.

The show truck allegedly used the nose clip from the King Cobra (I don’t see it), save for a steer medallion in place of a snake.

And that’s about all the information I could find on it. Nothing about what Ford intended with this concept, nothing about who designed it, nothing about its ultimate fate. Anybody know any more about it?

the mention of the King Cobra nose must be an editing problem from somewhere along the line?
