Came to the forum hoping to find more people interested in old school 23* motors.
I have a 1992 Mustang with a SBC 383. It has run 7.26 1/8th and 11.55 1/4. Just upgraded to a Pro Systems 780 carb looking to go a little faster.

Just out of curiosity why on earth do you have a Chevy Small block in a Ford? Just to piss off the Ford die hards or was it the only engine you could get ahold of?

I am not a die hard fan of Chevy, but it was cheap and I had seen it run. I got it for $2800, and couldnt afford to build the 331 I really wanted to. I probably wont ever do it again just because it takes a hady fabricator and I am not.
The only thing that pisses the Die hard for fans off is how good it runs.

just keep it clean debates are healthy.... actually people build Fords with chevy motors because its cheaper... I you can't afford a Ford you don't buy one... alot of street rodders especially like having the old street rods but when they are traveling around alot they rather have the Chevy drive train because you can buy the parts more readily at any Checker, Auto zone and the like. If they are away from home they can get any shop to fix it...where as...for instance if I'm out with RED and it breaks.... if I don't have the parts with me... I know I'm not going to be able to buy just any part at any store... you wouldn't believe how many parts on RED are special order. Also there is the Tranny thing... With a Chevy...you have the 350 or 400 and the bell housing fits all of chevies motors Where as with the Fords you have five or six different bell housings they fit only certain transmissions and certain motors... Ford made it a little more difficult to play in the playground. Chevy is a little friendlier that way....
Welcome aboard again....

I agree with the ease of parts finding. I am young, but I am not here to start any problems, so no need to worry about the friendly debates getting out of hand on my part.

I've had many fords, chevys and mopars...I like em all...I have also put chevies in to fords...mopar in to a datsun...And currently have a mopar/MGB..The "fox" body with the SBC is popular because of the bang for the buck lightweight package with cheap horsepower..
