I think I found a '72 442 fake on eBay.

442's never came with 2 barrel engines. This Cutlass is for sale stating that its a genuine 442, but the engine code 'j' (fifth letter in vin) says its a 350 2 barrel with dual exhaust.

Remember though, in 72 the 442 was just an option package on a Cutlass, not a specific model.

Turns out it is a 442, the 2 barrel 350 was available on it, at least it had dual exhaust. Still, that should not have been allowed.
