Anyone know where I can find V8 mounts for a 79 Monza? No parts store carries them, Chevy discontinued them years ago and of course none of the Dealers have any. I found one place that has replacement mounts "v8monza.com" and I ordered them. But, appearently, it's going to be a while before they complete my order. There seems to be a problem with the rubber mounts, so they tell me. And they don't seem to know exactly when they will be able to complete my order. So, I'm willing to buy some from somewhere else in the mean time. That way I can get ready by spring and have an extra set of mounts.
I've searched everywhere I can think of on the net, to no avail. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I don't want to sound stupid but have you tried the local NAPA store for the rubber mounts???I'm sure they wouldn't have the hard brackets but they can usually get any of the rubber stuff...

Doesn't sound stupid to me. I'm on the phone with them now!
I have checked with them already but not for just the rubber part. on hold, man their slow!

They have nothing, in fact, they said that they don't show a 79 Monza as ever coming with a V8! But, I know they did. In 79 some monzas came with the 305.
Anyway, all NAPA has is the trans mount for a TH350.
Nice try though! :)

:) I know the feeling! Thanks for the effort, not everyone will take the time to try. I thank you for that, PaPa Mike! And anyone else that gives advice for that matter. ;)

....And I still have no mounts! I emailed "v8monza.com" which is where I ordered the mounts from on Dec. 15, on Jan. 11 and was told that it is going to be "a bit longer" until they can complete my order. WTF does "a bit longer" mean?!?!
Anyway, I need the mounts. and it would appear that v8monza.com has no idea what they are doing or they would have a better response than "a bit longer". They are willing to refund my money but then I would still need the mounts. So if I can find another source I will get a refund from v8monza.com since they have their heads up their a$$e$ and appearently do not know when they can complete my order. Surely there is another option, source or solution. Any advice would be great! Anyone know how to manufacture the mounts? Thanks!

Have you talked to Larry to see if he might not need the ones he was using in the car???

Of course. I asked him about them the day I bought the car. He said that one of them was weak and so he figured I would want new ones.
I think I just found some mounts at this Checker Auto Parts store that I have never heard of, http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductList.aspx?parttype=27&ptset=A&searchfor=Mount%2c+Engine&sourcearea=Account
If they do indeed have them in stock then I will get them and also get my money back from the other place. I wish I had heard about that website sooner, but late is better than never! :D

None of the Auto Parts stores in the midwest will show any availability for engine mounts for an H-body. The demand is too low here in the midwest, out west is another story. In following advice from someone at another forum, I went to "checkerauto.com", which is owned by Parts America, who also owns Advance Auto. Advance is in my area, but they do not have any mounts for h bodies, and told me again today that they "can't get them".
Anyway, while at checkerauto.com, I found the engine mounts. But I wanted to be sure that they are the ones I need. So I called the help line that I found in the "contact us" link on the site. I talked to a person and asked him to confirm that the mounts shown are for a v8 h body. He confirmed that they are. So I ordered them! Including the trans mount, $36.99!!
And I was gonna pay $140.00 for the mounts from v8monza.com! All because more than one person told me that that was the "only" place that had/made them! And because the Auto stores and dealers here don't carry them.
Mine are coming from Arizona and will be here by the end of the week.
That's what I get for trusting the wrong people and not knowing about the availability differences.

After all of that in my previous post.....I find out that the guy I talked to at "PartsAmerica" didn't know what he was talking about either!
Those mounts will NOT work in an H-body!! Dammit!
So I cancelled that order.
I've never owned an H-body car, I'm trying to do something that alot of people have done and in consulting some of them I get mixed results. And who do I believe??
Yet another person told me to check with Summit, I've checked with them already and they did not have them (or so they said).
But this time the person who told me to check with them also gave me a part #, HOK-12608HKR. So I went ahead and checked with Summit again and gave them that part#. They said that they do indeed have that part# and that they are for Monzas of any year with a v8 up to the 400! Monzas did not come with anything bigger than a 305 but the person on the phone at Summit said that these mounts will fit all of the SBC engines and mount in an H-body. But they are $259.95 per set!! Ouch!
I've got some parts for sale!! I guess I'll list them in the Classifieds Section! :D
What an ordeal.

I towed the POS to the scrap yard and sold it for $10.00 on the condition that I could watch them crush it! They agreed, so it is now a cube of crushed steel! Good riddens!
