I looked at a car yesterday.
Called a guy who had a "Dodge painted like General Lee and he had had it for a couple of years". Said it went like snot. It was local, so I popped over to take a peek.
He told me where it was, and I drove past the place a couple of times able to see only a Ford LTD outside. But it WAS orange, so I pulled over.
I parked beside this thing, and started to walk around it. The LTD was mostly orange, except for the concealed bits, which were white, and the missing bits, which were absent.
The owner saw me outside and came to tell me about the car.
He explained that it had new paint, new tyres, new battery, new wipers, new brakes. By this time I had walked to the rear of the car and - there it was!
A Dodge insignia!
And two monster exhaust tips.
By now I had lost interest as a buyer, but was quite enjoying the spectacle.
I couldn't see why he would put new wipers on a windshield so smashed that they would tear at first sweep, but.... not my problem.
I asked to see under the hood. The glaring whiteness of the hood contrasted sweetly with the dull appearance of the engine, which looked like a 351.
He explained that he had had it up to 180 klicks, but when I asked him to start it, it spluttered slightly and then ran a bit rough. Maybe 5 cylinders.
He wants 3500 Canadian for this. Any takers?
