Does anybody know if ford made a T-bird with a 4.6 dual overhead cam engine. I ask because there is a T-bird with what looks like a DOHC engine in the local yard. Im just curious if this is a factory opion or somthing that was installed by a owner.

Not according to interchange info...The 4.6 was installed from 94-97 and there was only one version.

The DOHC 4.6 "cobra" engine from the Mustang was used in the Lincoln Mark VIII's, which are based on the same MN-12 platform as the '89-'97 Cougars and Thunderbirds. It's entirely possible somebody swapped in this engine, or you're looking at a Mark 8 instead of a T-bird. Either way, give it another good look. Those are great engines and fairly hard to find.

I took another look and it is indeed a MK VIII. So that means its a factory option?

The Ford Modulars are excellent engines, the 5.4 in my F-150 has been great. The 6.8 V10 is the best large gas truck engine out there right now.
