Television

Barnaby Jones; In the initial show the detective is a retired horse farmer. His son calls him from a telephone booth. He is then murdered. The daughter in law and Buddy team up to investigate and the show is on the road. The Ranchero that Buddy is driving is I believe a 1978.. (submitted by Carl Wilcox)

Dark Skies (1996); Episode Title: Shades of Gray; Loewengard and Kim develop a plan to attract an alien ship by creating a crop circle on a remote farm in Virginia. As they are constructing the crop circle they are aware of a presence watching them from the woods. This presence turns out to be a little girl, the daughter of the farmer on who's land the crop circles are being constructed. Loewengard and Kim drive the girl from the area in a 1963 Cream Colored Ford Falcon Ranchero. There are some excellent shots of the Ranchero being driven toward the camera, some interior shots with the C pillar in full view, and a 3/4 right side view which shows almost the full exterior of the truck. The fact it's a 1963 Ranchero is verified by the convex crossbar grille with squarish parking lights inboard from the headlights. (submitted by Steven Graeter - 8.5 on a scale of 10. A must see!)

The Fugitive; the original series with David Janssen. "Never wave goodbye" Part 1 Oct 8 1963 Janssen and Susan Oliver drive around in a 63' looking for the one-armed man after hearing he may be in the area. '73 Ranchero GT in the opening credits, the Black one that was smashed by the shipping car on the San Francisco shipping dock. I believe it was added to the credits in the second season from a first season show. (submitted by Stacey Morrison)

Northern Exposure, A&E;
• In an episode where Ed Chigliak faces his demon in the guise of a little green man he finds a girl he would like to date. At the end of the episode he walks up to her front door with the little man tagging along beside him telling him he should not try to do this. As he walks across the grass to the door, in the background parked with its nose away from the camera, is the unmistakable 1960 - 1963 Round Falcon Ranchero. This Ranchero also makes an appearence in this episode earlier but this is the best view of it.
• In the episode where Maggie's mom comes to town with a friend to plan Maggie's wedding to Joel, the Ranchero is sighted driving outside loaded up with what looks like an ATV right after Walt is fired from the store that RuthAnn runs.
• Episode 2.3 4/22/91 "All Is Vanity" - In an episode in which Maggie's father comes to visit, she has told him her boyfriend is Joel. Then she sees Joel across the street. He wants to talk to her so he crosses the street. As he does so, a red Ranchero zips by. At least I think its a Ranchero. Judging by the thin B pillar this may be a 1967 - 1969 but it goes by too quick that you can't tell. I thought initially, it was a 1966 El Camino but its profile is more Fordlike.
• Episode 5.8 11/15/93 "Heal Thyself" - The Ranchero makes its appearence in the beginning of the episode. As Leonard walks with Ed to the door the Ranchero is parked by the garage of the house. Later, the girl, who is interested in Ed comes to his house and invites him to a picnic. After Ed says yes, she gets in the Ranchero and drives off.
• In the episode where Maurice buys a violin and hires Cal to give an estimate on its value, as Cal is trying to leave town after bombing Maurice's car he hurries around a corner where Ed is standing. As he passes Ed the 1960's Falcon Ranchero is parked behind him across the street. It's a quick sighting so if you don't look quickly you'll miss it.
