What is Your Favorite Engine

I thought that since it is Christmas and we all are dreaming, I would ask everyone to describe , If they had a choice of any engine, What engine they would wish for for thier car or truck, and If you want to even list the specs etc and why and what Vehicle would put it in.

Well dreaming would be the 427SOHC motor...included with all its madness, REALLY dreaming would be a 600 + hp Rousch Motor....realistically.....a blower for my 351 Cobra Jet.... but hey, what I have kicks butt good enough. Just give this girl car parts and she's a happy camper :D :D

That would take some BIG rear tires to harness :) Sounds like hes running Pro Mod. My little Deuce is using 26" tires with 10" of tread. When I did the mini tub, I should have give my self more room,But I didnt want to back half the car.But I could have enlarged the inner wheel hsg,s.to accomidate a 28" tire. The hsg,s are 29" across. So thats my prob. I know they are running 8,s with the 26 x 8.3" of tread.= ET Street. So guess Ive got a ways to go.:) But still would be awsome to have a 632 stuffed in there.LOL Even if I was blowing the tires off. But think I would have to Mortgage my house to get one of those crate mtrs. And I havent been particular good,so getting Santa to bring one is out of the question, Thanks, been fun dreaming. Roger

He is building an American Graffitti 55 2 door hardtop.... straight front axle... the whole nine. He isn't building it to race.... not legally anyway...  :D

How could he not race it..LOL I had to take my 55 to the strip after I built it. And made about 4 passes with it. I won Best Muscle car with it out of the 4 states.Ks,Mo,Ok,Ark. Was a blast, but never have since than. Thats why I came home and commenced building the other car. Its a purpose built car,but still street legal. But ,oh yes,Id put that engine of your brothers in a heart beat.LOL But betcha some time down the road,he will want to see what it does?? :)

Are you familiar with the Hell's Angels? he used to run with them 40 plus years ago..... and he was into street racing. He knows most of the force in his neighborhood. The drivetrain to that car is a 76 Corvette chassis and he's putting the 55 on top...that way he knows the drivetrain can handle it....Jerry is up in his late 50's now...and he's not as limber as he used to be. Live rough.... tends to give ya problems when your older. I'm sure he'll take it to the strip its less than a mile from his house....but, he's done with the shows and such...he says this is his final hoorah... yeah he has 8 Corvettes, a Dodge pickup, a speed boat that has a 460 with a blower on it...it skips across the lake at over 80 mph.... he definitely needs a last hooraaahhhh If I remember he is running full alcohol on it too....

sure sure....  :D

Yeah,I spent 24 years in sunny souther Cal. Was close to a couple of the Angles. One in particular was the Pres out of Sanfernando. Had to use his and his friends help once, due to an out of control Satan Slave. I was dating the guys gal.Crazy, but she didnt tell me.Oh well.:) I ran a Nordic Jet with a 460 on lots of the Lakes ,but my fast ride was a 16ft Flatbottom. That brings back lots of memorys.

Jerry has an SS chopper he bought a few years back... I told him to leave it in the garage as a dust collector.... when he was building his garage....he fell off the roof and snapped a vertibre in his neck...that man.... he's got angels because he's still walking and moving and being a pain in the behind. But he needs to quit risking his life and limb....if you know what I mean.

Nice bikes.

Wow I'm so pleased to see a "favorite / most-wanted" engine thread where everyone just doesn't scream HEMI! like they're the end-all, be-all american engine.

I didn't say much in my earlier post, but my current favored engine is the 385-family of Ford big blocks; 429, 460, and up. Main reason is that's what I have to play with at the moment, but I've learned over the past couple years this is one heck of an engine to have. Very easy to build, super displacement capability, and you get a lot of bang for your buck.

So what are you saying CJ....you can out drive me?

just kidding....they would be close to equally matched....hard to say... I might have a little advantage seeing as I live at the altitude.... :D
