Steve , Lets say you are trying to make a patch panel for a 70's muscle car, what kind of metal would you use?

Thanks

Otis

Hi Otis
19 gauge is what the manufactures use , and some times a bit tough to get.
What you will most likely find will be 20 or 18 gauge 1008 to 1012 series cold roll and depending upon your what particular part of the body you are working on might make the difference which one you choose. :)

Hi Comet
Well I'm not going to say you can't  but remember that your outer body panels are a lighter gauge than floor pans. Now if you are talking about a small 4 inch by 4 inch area just to cover a hole, structurally it may not do any harm at all. If you were to patch around a unitized area or body mount mount area I myself would not . But again that is not to say it would not work. That was a terrific question though Comet. :)

I guess I have to get some more steel to do the floors, thanks:)
