How many of you folks plan on atleast checking into buying an '08 Challenger when they hit the showrooms in January of '08?

I'd get either a GT 500, a Hemi 6.1 Challenger, or a GTO (if GM is producing them agian)................if I had an extra 30k to work with.

Actually I can't afford to buy a new car...but I think Dodge did an outstanding job retro-ing the Challenger

As an old MOPAR hardcore I can say I will never buy anything from the new Mercedes owned chrysler corp.No matter how cool it looks or runs.:(

Yeah, the new Chally blows the new Charger out of the water, or just about any concept muscle at that.

The new Challenger looks great and I would love to have one, but I don't know that I will be in the market for a new car when they become available. If I am, by some chance, I would be sure to give it a look.

I really like the lines on the new Challenger, I hope they don't change too much before release. 6.1L 6 speed, would be my choice.......I wonder if they'd the GTO even up?
not...

Well, from what I've read, what you see is what you get with the concept. Except the body is going to be steel. There's been alot of talk though about cost efficiency of production do to the length and width of the car as well as the roll of the rocker panels. So hopefully the worst we'll see is a slightly shorter, skinnier Challenger with rocker panels that don't curl quite as far in.

if I had the money I'd get one ASAP, but I'll just have to wait 5 years or so to get mine

Better get used to it..........my predictions --
Nissan/Renault will buy out Ford.
Toyota or Honda will buy out GM.
One down........two to go. :(

In my opinion Chrysler is at the top of the food chain these days, and by the looks of their future line-ups they will be for a while. When the new Camaro and Challenger come out, they are going to steal alot of the thunder from the new Mustang; that will impact Ford. IMO Chrysler, then GM, them Ford.

chrysler is owned by the krauts though

Top of the American Food chain. And if you mean "owned by the krauts" in reference to quality of the vehicle I'm going to slap you. No joke, five across the eyes, you won't even see it coming. Ford in my opinion has shot their collective wad with the Mustang. Chevy is taking everything they have good (the Camaro concept art) and destroying it (the Camaro Concept Car). Chrysler is the only company that right now is bringing back a line-up of classic names and giving the larger bore V8s. Ford doesn't even have a respectable V8 in the Mustang, Chevy isn't going to get to far with the new Camaro, even though I think it will have the powerplant to compete with the other neo-muscle cars, it's styling is just too forced. It looks like Chevy took an existing car and just threw on a long hood, swooping quarter, and retro looking C-pillar. And this is all coming from a die-hard GM junkie. Now this isn't saying that Ford couldn't introduce a respectable engine in the Mustang, or that Chevy couldn't make minor modifications to the production Camaro that would make it much more appealing, or that Dodge won't make any last minute changes to the Challenger and sink it before it sails. I'm just giving my prediction.

No, he means it literally. Chrysler is owned by Mercedes.

They aren't so much owned by them as they are sister companies now. Mercedes wasn't actually doing that hot this time last year, and they saw merging with Chrysler as a way to bring in some money. Wheter or not it's worked out for Mercedes I don't know, but IMO Chrysler is still American.

Chrysler has been building good looking-bad quaility cars for a while and so has mercedes(although I think thier cars are ugly)....I don't see how two bads make a good.......chrysler layed off all the good engineers back in 73-74 and went downhill ever since. sorry for the rant but I WAS a huge MOPAR guy and still have the 97 Dakota that I bought in 98...I had the displeasure of working on a few Mercedes benz.....and some BMWs...And I have to say there's no comparison in engineering between the two...Mercedes is a POS with a high pricetag...Americans,as a group, are easily influenced so we buy this stuff so our neighbors will think we are doing well.

It all depends on if I have the money, and the rumors being true about a Boss Mustang.

I really like the Challenger. I think it more accurately reflects the roots of the car more than the Camaro concept or the production Mustang.
I have a '69 SS/RS 396 Camaro and I would not trade it, but I would buy a new Challenger and I will be waiting anxiously to see the colors the new Challenger will come in. If it is available in Sublime Green with the flat black hood and billboard or maybe the sonic stripe, I may have to mortgage the homestead to have one in the garage.
With the 6.1 hemi and a six speed.........that would be one bad azz car! Sign me up.
