Hello from Southern Nevada! This board was recommended on Ranchero.us so I thought I'd take a peek! I am currently restoring my 76 Ranchero Lady, and this looks like a great place to be :)

It's great to get such a warm welcome :) Thanks for the info on this board, 72, looks like a lot of info to be gathered here and it's always great to have a common thread with people. Maybe it can make the world just a little bit better :D

Well you are welcome, if you look down further Prostreet has a section on body work and fabrication I think might be really helpful to you with your girl. He builds them bottom up. There is a plethera of knowledge just in that one spot. :D :D

I was reading the section on dents yesterday, but haven't had a chance to read further. I was in between fiberglass coats on the floorboard. Good thing I only had one whole floorboad and one small section of another to do!
Of course, it was rather amusing going to the bathroom. Had my thumb fiberglass stuck to my underwear for about 30 seconds :D

Dang I hate it when that happens... Girl I can not believe you don't wear gloves for that. When I glassed RED on the passenger side I wore gloves through out the process, I've seen what it does to your hands...my brother is the prime example. I don't want my hands to end up like shoe leather. :( Think about gloves girl, protect your skin its never gonna be younger.

It drove me absolutely nuts to have gloves on my hands for the fiberglass stuff. It didn't bother my hands at all, but my hubby threatening to take away the filler kinda made me change my mind for the second coat :D
I don't worry too much about my skin. I make my own lotions, soaps and creams, so anything that gets done I can undo or improve by changing a formula.
You don't want to know how I got the grease off my old engine ;)

10-12-2006, 04:15 PM
Well my hubby has a horrible Skin disease and I know first hand how precious it is. :( Just be careful. You only have one set, and if your not careful....not a lotion created can repair the damage.

Everyone knows my Chero is on Steroids
At this point I'm just happy that my Lady has four wheels and an engine that runs good! No hood (installed new engine), no seat or carpet (floor work), and little round holes all the way around (Squire moulding and decal removed, but getting filled with steel plugs).
But hey, we're making progress!! :D

Hey sugar, my bad boy did not start on serious steroids...it had the muscle from the factory....it was spring 2005 that the hubby put it on steroids :D and believe me....RED did not start out all beautiful as one might think. Its taken 7 long years to get him to where he is.

I guess sometimes you just need to know that some the older cars pretty much looked the same when we got them and it takes people with dedication, love and perseverance to get them to where we want them, and, call me crazy, but where THEY want to be :)
I could swear I saw Lady smirk when I put in the new engine and started her for the first time. You know, one of those "well, look at me NOW!" smirks!! ;)

BOY do I .... it's almost as if they sighed..... ****ahhhh that feels so much better**** kind of sigh... :D Isn't it funny how you get so attached to a "thing"
as crazy as life is right now in the world. We are so fortunate to have that one thing that makes a smile....they are almost like puppies....you give them something and they are happy.... Yeah I'm ceritifiable :D:rolleyes:

It's supposed to rain all day here today. Beware, 72, if this turns to snow when it gets there you'll need that 4WD Subaru!
My Lady is NOT happy. She's out in the rain with her bare spots and all. She'll be ok but I'll have heck to pay tomorrow! Oh, and I forgot to close her windows! Not terribly worried. It will all dry tomorrow and Monday in the sunshine.
And no, she's not outside because the El is still in the garage :D

Seems like each time for the past three weeks that I took mine out it rained. I wouldn't mind it so much if the seals weren't so shot!

We don't get rain that much so it's well appreciated when we do. Except for my poor car that was sitting in it! I think the last time it rained was August or early September. I'm even grateful if it's cloudy for a day!
I know what you mean about the seals. I could use a new set too.
