Hey, my buddy got a '66 Stang with a 289 in it. I know you were running a pretty hot 302 in your '68, what was the setup? Anything you can remember would be awesome and if you know what it was running in the 1/4 that would be great too. I figure, theyre pretty close in displacement so a similar setup should produce similar results. Im trying to get him, to just go with a 351 and make it easier but he wants to keep the same engine. Will a 351 crank fit in without too much work?

WOW, make a person think back a decade or two

It was bored 60 over, it had the edlebrock performer high rise with two 650 holley's on it. My brother built that motor, if I remember correctly...(this was before Klaus and I got married) he put in a mild performance Crane Cam. I wouldn't even be able to tell you what size. And as for quartermile times, we never drag raced that car. But I can tell you, jumping on the highway it would get up to 75 in about 5 seconds. You could run that car at 50 in first gear. Boy was that a fun car to drive. Until my brother put a one ton duelly clutch assembly in it. 11 1/2 " flywheel and pressure plate. We started to bend the clutch adjusting rods right and left in it, so we finally reinforced it with 1/4" cast angle iron....when we sold it the Pedal was about to break from the pressure  :D fun car. Let me know about that little 66 I'm curious about it :D

Ok, I will. He just got a hood and a new dash pad for it. He pretty much stole it, 2500 and the thing has no rust through. I thought it was going to have alot of bondo but it doesnt. I thought it was going to be all wavy down on the lower quarters but the entire quarters were replaced and theres only a small bit of bondo, un noticable, where the quarter merges with the roof. Im try to get him to get a bigger engine or convert to a 4 speed since it needs a new transmission anyway. Then he can shove in some 3.91s or 4.10s.

Nothing wakes up a small block like a set of gears
