So, I need to know, if I plan on putting a 340 in my Duster, what is the best way of going about getting a 340 for it? id like to buy the whole engine up front, and not like, buy a bunch of parts and put one together. since this is my first project, and im in no hurry, money isn't too much of a factor, just how can i get one? so far im thinking on just going to scrap yards for parts, but id like a nice rust free engine and tranny.

If you are planning keeping the Duster as close to original as possible, finding and restoring a '70's version 340 will be a tall order. If you want the car to be a driver, then I agree that a crate motor is the way to go.

The key thing with the 340 is the block(all years are the same) 318 crank works and aftermarket heads(later 340s used 360 heads anyway) are available. There are still some 340s around but they are scarce.

im not gonna get a 340 yet. It will be a couple of years since I even have the money, or a cherry picker at that. but thanks, ill talk with him a bit. anyway, iv decided to go with a simple crate, and it will be a crate 360. I fugure since its a 75, ill go as stock as possible, while still making it my own Duster. like I'll have the little Duster emblems on it, and alot of 75 models wern't painted any good colors, im thinking about painting this on eather red, orange, or plum crazy.

3 problems with that:
1) you don't need a cherrypicker to pull a motor, just a tractor with forks
2) I don't like that "as stock as possible" nonsence
3) you forgot to add sublime to the list of colors

Dusters, IMO don't look good in green, but Demons do.
